Reaching Adventure Bay from London
Avoid the traffic and bedlam of the north coast, and experience an authentic corner of Cornwall that your friends haven’t heard about…
While much of Cornwall remains quite inaccessible without a car, you’ll find it’s easy to reach us using public transit directly from London. Hop on a train to Plymouth from Paddington station with a journey time of around 3h 15 minutes. A highlight of this journey is passing through Dawlish where the train line runs mere metres from the sand of the beach and through tunnels carved into the sea cliff.
Once in Plymouth you can have a night in the city and enjoy cultural highlights like the Box museum, shopping in the city centre or exploring the historic barbican district (a great place to go sample a hearty pint or a first pasty of your trip!). Or head straight for the 70A bus which connects the city to the town of Torpoint – the first stop across the county border marked by the Tamar River. Access is via a vehicle ferry and then onwards to Whitsand Bay, Maker Heights, Mt Edgucumbe estate and the quaint villages of Millbrook, Kingsand and Cawsand.
Those staying at Maker Heights or the twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand have a plethora of routes to choose from if you wanted to walk to us, and since we have all the kit you need at the beach why not walk in in the morning and then bus home – all you need to carry is your towel, swimwear and sun protection, we have a full range of wetsuits and surf equipment down at the beach.
We might not have all the amenities of the city in South East Cornwall, but we’ve got heaps of culture, music and incredible cocktails served in an historic barrack block in an designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our small community has a whole lot to offer!
Travelling solo? You can join us for a surf lesson with an existing group or book a private 1-1 lesson to fast track your surfing. Bringing the girls down to the coast? Ask us for details about joining our ladies club during your trip.
